Volunteer TO Support the CAF-Idaho Mountain Biking APEX ADVENTURE

The thrill of mountain biking can be addicting and Idaho offers some of the best mountain biking trails in the USA. Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) - Idaho is excited to host its Idaho Mountain Biking Apex Adventure. Task Force Mission43 has identified this impactful opportunity to give back to adaptive athletes who are eager to learn the skill of mountain biking. No experience is required to volunteer. Several experienced riders will accompany each riding group to instruct the adaptive athletes. We offer a diverse range of volunteer opportunities, perfect for individuals who would are interested in assisting our team with hospitality and for those who would like to provide ride support

Whether you can commit to a single shift or multiple, the choice is yours. With sessions running from 8am to 4pm, there's flexibility to fit your schedule. Look out for an email from the CAF-Idaho team detailing the available time slots after you’ve registered and get ready to make a difference.

Salute to Service Workout at the Warhawk

The Warhawk Air Museum’s Salute to Service Workout is a military-style physical and mental challenge for those who want to sweat for a great cause!

Mission43 and The Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse are bringing their military veterans to the party to make this unique workout fun, social, and challenging! Regardless of your fitness level, if you want to sweat and laugh for a great cause, this event is for you! All event proceeds go to the construction of the Warhawk’s Global War on Terror Museum expansion, where generations of Idahoans will learn about the service and sacrifice of our post-9/11 veterans.

The Salute to Service Workout at the Warhawk will be led by former Marine Corps Captain, Anna Woodring. As a Marine, Anna consistently maintained a remarkable record of 41 pull-ups in annual Physical Fitness Tests while on Active Duty. Anna was a pioneer of sorts by becoming the first female officer to successfully complete Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) Assessment and Selection, as well as being the first female to pass the British Royal Marine Physical Instructor Test. Her certifications include Force Fitness Instructor, Marine Water Survival Instructor, and High-Intensity Tactical Trainer. Anna has a Master’s in Kinesiology from the University of Georgia, where she was the first female to contribute her expertise to the University of Georgia Football Team’s Strength and Conditioning program, aiding in two of UGA’s National Championship victories. Her unique brand of fitness fire comes from years of tactical and technical experience.

Vietnam War Veterans Day

On Friday, March 29th, Mission43 members are encouraged to celebrate the incredible service and sacrifice of Vietnam War Veterans. The Idaho Division of Veterans Services and the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America host this special event, it is always a meaningful experience.

Did you Know…

The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act was signed into law in 2017 which designates March 29th of every year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

The date is a fitting choice for a day honoring Vietnam veterans. It was chosen to be observed in perpetuity because March 29th, 1973 was the day United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disestablished and also the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. In addition, on and around this same day Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged prisoners of war.

43INC SPEAKER SERIES FEATURING David Vobora

Retired NFL linebacker and founder of Adaptive Training Foundation

Mission43 and Challenged Athletes Foundation-Idaho are pleased to host a very special 43INC Speaker Series featuring David Vobora. David was a standout football player at the University of Idaho before being drafted with the final pick in the 2008 NFL draft (termed “Mr. Irrelevant”). David has been anything but irrelevant as he went on to have a successful career with the St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks. After the NFL, David discovered a passion for helping veterans and adaptive athletes and founded the Adaptive Training Foundation.

The evening will begin with a CAF-Idaho Grant Night, where one lucky adaptive athlete will receive an amazing, customized piece of equipment. Then, we will sit down with David to discuss resilience, service, and the powerful connection between the military and adaptive athlete communities.

Space is limited so register today, you won’t want to miss it!

MEET OUR GUEST

Retired NFL linebacker, David Vobora was selected as the final pick in the 2008 Draft earning him the distinguished title of, "Mr. Irrelevant." After a successful 5-year career was abruptly ended by a devastating shoulder injury, David looked to redefine his identity outside of football.

Soon after, David met a quadruple amputee and military Veteran, Ssgt. Travis Mills. This chance encounter led to the launch of the innovative non-profit gym called the Adaptive Training Foundation in 2014.

Over the last 9+ years, David & his team at ATF have put more than 300+ adaptive athletes through their flagship 9-week REDEFINE program in Dallas, TX. David's groundbreaking work as a social entrepreneur has led him around the world as a keynote speaker for international corporations, TedX, a guest appearance on the Ellen Show, support from giant business moguls, and world leaders including the previous three US Presidents.

David has an unmatched ability to connect with people. He genuinely believes in others until they believe in themselves. He has the gift of making people feel loved for who they are and not for what they do or what they can provide.

"ADAPTIVE TRAINING FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE 100% COST-FREE ACCESS AND INCLUSION TO INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES BY EMPOWERING THEM THROUGH EXERCISE AND COMMUNITY"

Previous 43INC Speaker Series

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Mission43 was pleased to host another installment of the 43INC Speaker Series at the Boise Depot. In preparation for our annual 9/11 Miles of Remembrance 5K run, we welcomed Tim Brown, former FDNY Firefighter, and 9/11 survivor, to the stage to tell his inspirational story of service and sacrifice at Ground Zero. Listen and learn from Tim's message, and remember to NEVER FORGET September 11th, 2001.

Community Partner Event: Vietnam War Veterans Day (EVENT TIME UPDATED)

**UPDATE**

On Wednesday, March 29th, the Mission43 team will spend the afternoon celebrating the incredible service and sacrifice of Vietnam War Veterans. Mission43’s Dan Nelson will emcee the event that includes music, displays, and service based stations.

CAF Presents "Landis: Just Watch Me"

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BEAT THE ODDS?

In partnership with Challenged Athletes Foundation and Major League Baseball comes the inspiring true story of Landis Sims, a 15-year-old baseball player born with a quad-congenital limb deficiency, meaning he is missing both hands and feet. Witness Landis for over 8 years as he tackles his goal of making his Varsity team with guidance from some of Major League Baseball’s best, including pitcher Jose Musgrove, Manager Joe Girardi, and former infielder Hernan Iribarren, as well as the heroic Wounded Warriors. With no hands, no feet, and no limits, Landis: Just Watch Me will have you cheering and ready to step away from the sidelines to face your own challenges.
