The success that Austin Overacre experienced during his transition back to civilian life is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He formulated a plan and worked that plan, part of which included leveraging the Idaho-based employment team at Mission43 and Hire Heroes USA. Our mission is to assist military members and their spouses as they find meaningful employment in Idaho after the military. We are thrilled to introduce the newest group of scholarship recipients for the Mission43 Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Course! This program is dedicated to empowering Idaho’s transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses by offering scholarships to attend a rigorous 4-day PMP exam preparation course, leading to PMP certification.
Recently, over 75 of our members took time out of their day to give back, and address a serious problem facing our community and country.
Mission43 hosted former NFL football player David Vobora. He was a standout football player at the University of Idaho and in the NFL, and after retiring, he discovered his passion for working with veterans and adaptive athletes. He founded the Adaptive Training Foundation where he helps athletes "Defy the Impossible." We had a great conversation with Dave and it was a captivating event that left a lasting impact.
On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Mission43 was pleased to host another installment of the 43INC Speaker Series at the Boise Depot. In preparation for our annual 9/11 Miles of Remembrance 5K run, we welcomed Tim Brown, former FDNY Firefighter, and 9/11 survivor, to the stage to tell his inspirational story of service and sacrifice at Ground Zero. On Sunday, August 14th, Mission43 hosted the Summer Mountain Day at Bogus Basin. During the event, members had unlimited access to the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, scenic chairlift rides, bungee trampoline sessions, and climbing wall sessions. On July 9th, 2022, Mission43 and CAF-Idaho hosted the Boise Twilight Criterium Kids Ride. Over 400+ kids ranging in age from 3 to 10 years old, including adaptive athletes, showed up to complete laps on the professional race track. The event wouldn’t be possible without the help of 30 Task Force Mission43 volunteers who ensured all kids made it safely to the finish line and got paired back with their responsible adult party. Thank you to everyone who participated. WE RIDE TOGETHER!!
Owning a jet boat guide company is not the typical next career after the military, but we found someone who did it. Homer Brown returned to his hometown of Whitebird, Idaho after his time in the Army, and now he spends his days on the Snake River running rapids, catching sturgeon, and giving his customers a sense that they are part of his local community. To top it off, he’s also the town mayor.
On September 11, 2021, Mission43 conducted the Miles of Remembrance 5k run, walk, ruck event at the Eagle Bike Park. On June 19th, 2021, Mission43 conducted the Winter Hiking Series. The series entails some hikes suitable for the whole family, but “ramps up” in difficulty as it progresses. No experience is necessary, but some of the hikes are very challenging and require a certain level of fitness and commitment. Mission43 will provide the guide and gear, you provide the effort!

On May 28th, 2021, the Mission43 team was on-site at Portneuf Valley Brewing networking with local members, distributing packets for the next day’s Miles of Remembrance event. This was an opportunity to learn about career development resources offered by our Employment Team, advance your education through our Education Team, and connect with other like-minded veterans, military spouses, and civilian supporters who all believe there is more to accomplish after the service.
