Finding Purpose Through Struggle

Mission43 ORP: Finding Purpose Through Struggle

Mission43 is dedicated to supporting Idaho’s military veterans, active service members, and their families as they transition, grow, and lead in civilian life. One of the greatest challenges that many face is finding meaning and strength in the aftermath of struggle, whether through service, transition, or personal adversity.

Operation Resilient Path (ORP) is dedicated to helping veterans and first responders facing Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) by providing confidential, fast access to treatment options.

Finding Purpose Through Struggle

Join Mission43 for a meaningful evening of connection, reflection, and growth as we host a special ORP event in partnership with The Headstrong Project.

We are honored to welcome AJ Veal, National Outreach Director of The Headstrong Project, who will share his personal story of service, struggle, and recovery. AJ will speak candidly about the hidden struggles of service and substance use, the challenges of transition, identity, parenting, and moral injury, ultimately finding purpose through adversity.

Following AJ’s story, Kathryn Dosch, M.Ed, LPC, NCC, Regional Clinical Director with The Headstrong Project, will provide a clinical perspective. Kathryn will explore the research behind storytelling as a tool for healing, how moral injury impacts individuals and families, and the vital role of purpose in fostering Post-Traumatic Growth.

This event is open to veterans, first responders, and military spouses.

What to Expect

Understanding struggle and recovery takes both lived experience and clinical insight. This event offers both, with space for reflection and connection.

  • Personal Storytelling: AJ Veal shares his journey of service, substance use, transition, and growth.

  • Clinical Perspective: Kathryn Dosch explains how storytelling aids recovery, the effects of moral injury, and the role of purpose in Post-Traumatic Growth.

  • Community Connection: Breakout discussions and a Q&A session to process, share, and connect with others who understand.
