Join us for this month's Charity Miles Monday on June 4th, where the M43 community comes together to help raise money for charity by logging miles with the Charity Miles app. Meet under old glory at Payette Brewing Co. at 6:00pm and we'll hit the Greenbelt for some good 'ol fashioned PT. After that we head into Payette to grab a pint and some food in support of Kegs 4 Kause. Payette will donate all proceeds from the evening to a local non-profit. We'll see you there!

The 43INC Entrepreneurs Garage is kicking off on May 21st with an exclusive cohort of Mission43 veterans, currently serving military, and military spouses. This is a 10-session course that goes under the hood of your business idea using the Lean Startup Methodology with the goal of starting to achieve and sustain revenue as a viable business.

The BSU Venture College will automatically award a $1000 scholarship for Mission43 members thanks to our partnership with the school. Members cover the remaining cost of $149.

He brings his passion for enriching the lives of veterans through employment, education, purpose, and connection to the stage with his message about building community in ways that meet the needs of the emerging generation of veterans in Idaho.

Team Rubicon Type II Wildland Firefighter Training

Team Rubicon Type II Wildland Firefighter Training

The Bureau of Land Management is looking for military grade talent to help protect our public lands as Type 2 Wildland Firefighters. Get qualified May 4-7th at the National Interagency Firefighting Center in Boise through the partnership between BLM and Team Rubicon. Those qualified will have the opportunity to deploy and get paid throughout the summer and may find the opportunity to begin a career as a Wildland Firefighter. 

Here is what you can expect (and here are some photos from previous years):

Day 1: In-processing and 45lb weighted pack test.
Day 2: Classroom ops covering ICS, fire behavior, PPE, and human factors.
Day 3: Field Day! Learn to use the tools and operate safely on the fire line.
Day 4: Wrap up and graduation.

There are some pre-requisites. Please make sure you are a TR member (both military and civilian can join) and have your ICS 100 and 700 complete.

Team Stone 24-Hour TACP Challenge

Team Stone 24-Hour TACP Challenge

A TACP, or Tactical Air Control Party, are members of the Air Force that embed with the Army and Marine Corps to call in air strikes on enemy targets. This is your opportunity to challenge yourself physically and help raise awareness for the TACP Association that provides direct support to the the families of the fallen and those in need. 

This is a family friendly event and it's up to you on how and when you want to participate (you don't have to be there for the full 24 hours!). You can walk, ruck, or run over a 4-mile course through the foothills of Eagle, Idaho. Do it as an individual, family, or create a team to go the distance. You can also just show up...there will be plenty to do with others enjoying the atmosphere, food, and military equipment on display.

This is a great way to kick-start your next career and work face-to-face with the experts in helping military spouses and veterans succeed in their transition to the civilian workforce. Our classes will provide advanced instruction and practical application in resume writing, networking techniques, and interview execution.

Challenge yourself and practice your techniques with mock interviews conducted by HR professionals who have experience across many different business sectors. Run As One is an opportunity to establish and renew bonds with our brothers and sisters in Team RWB, Team Rubicon, and The Mission Continues. Walk, ruck, or run together at Kleiner Park in Meridian, Idaho. 

Shared purpose and hard work towards a common goal builds the strongest communities and we are excited to bring this national level event down to a local level. Run As One is held in honor of Marine veteran Clay Hunt, an original member of Team Rubicon, Mission Continues Fellow, and avid sportsman, who took his own life after battling PTSD and depression. Clay was an active participant in many veteran organizations and the event serves as a celebration of the networks that empower, unite, and enrich the lives of veterans. It is a symbol of leadership, action, and collaboration across the veteran landscape globally and within our local communities.

Bring the family and cruise around the mountain with some of our best M43 friends. We'll also have the Mission43 Base Camp set up on the 3rd floor of the Pioneer Lodge where you can get warm and relax with food and drink. We'll provide the lift tickets (and rentals if you need them), lunch, and a chance to try out the new Glade Runner mountain coaster! At 3:30 meet us back in the Pioneer Lodge for après ski and we'll have everything you need to enjoy a post-mountain social.

The BSU Venture College Mission43 Garage is the next step in getting "under the hood" of your business or non-profit idea to achieve and sustain revenue through the Business Model Canvas. Approximately 7 out of 10 businesses fail, but going through this process can help you determine the validity of the product or service you want to bring your customers.

The course will cover and you will earn a BSU approved badge in the following:

  • Networking Badge: Create and maintain a network of contacts to help your business grow.
  • Pitching Badge: Clearly articulate your concept.
  • Customer Discovery Badge: Test your product or service with targeted potential customers.
  • Customer and Value Validation Badge: Discover your product-market fit with your product, service, or concept.

More about the scholarship: Mission43 and the Venture College are excited to partner and bring this opportunity, and the Entrepreneur Sprint course, to Mission43 members. 43INC Entrepreneurs Sprint

Do you have a business or non-profit idea? Take part in 3rd Cohort of the BSU Venture College Entrepreneurs Sprint. We are kicking off February 6th with an exclusive cohort just for Mission43 veterans, currently serving military, and military spouses. 

This is fast-paced (four sessions over two weeks), innovative (uses the Lean Startup Methodology), and affordable (only $48). Low risk-high reward for you and your idea! We consistently hear the best part of the course is the getting to work with the other incredible people in the cohort, so don't miss that opportunity!

Finally, if you benefit from this and want to further develop your business, you are automatically eligible for the $1000 scholarship to the full semester course called the Venture College/Mission43 Garage program. You will meet once a week over 13-weeks, have incredible guest instructors, and gain access to the staff support and resources at the Venture College (think entrepreneur incubator). You have to complete a Sprint to be eligible and this is the last chance before the Garage kicks off on Wednesday, February 28th! (Every Wednesday February 28th - May 23rd)

This is a great way to kick-start your next career and work face-to-face with the experts in helping military spouses and veterans succeed in their transition to the civilian workforce. Don't miss the Mock Interview training the following day, where you will put all you've learned together in a full dress rehearsal while interviewing with actual HR reps (register separately).

What you will accomplish:

  • A concise and PROFESSIONAL RESUME that translates your military experience into civilian speak. This resume will be the baseline resume you use with your Hire Heroes USA Transition Specialist (TS) to help you apply for your next career. 
  • Your LINKEDIN PROFILE will be looking sharp for the employers out there who are searching for people with your skill set. See our video with Dawn and how she was immediately pinged at the workshop when she got her account set up!
